Patients can access authorised websites for health information, e.g. NHS Direct, Choose and Book, Patient Information Leaflets (PILS) or PCT guidelines. Feedback indicates that HIP helps patients to better understand their conditions and makes them feel more in control. Linking PILS directly with their medical record means the patient is provided with appropriate information in a patient friendly format.

HIP can also help a practice increase its QOF score through the distribution and electronic completion of the GPAQ questionnaires.

Biometric fingerprint authentication is included for enhanced and secure patient identification.
