Healthcare IT specialist EMIS has won the ‘Technology Supplier of the Year’ award in the inaugural UK IT Industry Awards, organised by the BCS and Computing magazine.
The award recognised the innovation behind EMIS’ next generation EMIS Web system and the measurable improvements it is delivering for clinicians and patients alike.
The professionalism of EMIS’ services and its high level of customer satisfaction were other key criteria in winning the award. Other organisational winners included Google, IBM and Rolls-Royce.
Sean Riddell, EMIS managing director, said: “This award is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the entire EMIS team – from the software developers to our support teams on the road.
“It is also a fantastic tribute to the innovative thinking behind EMIS Web and recognition of its potential to transform UK healthcare.”
The new awards combine the long-standing Computing magazine Awards for Excellence and the BCS IT Industry Awards. They were announced at a gala dinner at the Battersea Park Arena, London, on 12 November, attended by more than 1,300 industry professionals and hosted by comedian Sean Lock.
Dr Shaun O’Hanlon, Clinical Director of EMIS, collected the company’s award.
David Clarke, chief executive of the BCS said: "This year's awards have been exceptional. They not only provide examples of best practice but also demonstrate how IT is enabling today's information society from entertainment to healthcare, manufacturing to retail."
