EMIS to preview EMIS Web v2 at EHI Live

Thursday, 5 November 2009

EMIS is to preview version 2 of its EMIS Web cross-organisational healthcare system at EHI Live next week, ahead of its release to more than 1,000 clinical users.

It will be the first time the system has been seen outside the EMIS National User Group conference, where it drew a spontaneous round of applause from delegates, and follows the completion of a rigorous internal accreditation process involving 13,000 individual tests.

EMIS Web v1 is already being used by more than 1,000 early adopters across the UK, including GPs, community and secondary care clinicians in NHS Tower Hamlets, NHS Liverpool and NHS Cumbria.

In Tower Hamlets alone, 300 community staff are now using the system to access relevant data from the GP record and record their consultations – providing a comprehensive view of a patient’s care.  The PCT has already seen huge time and efficiency savings, as well as improved data capture and reporting.

A unique feature of EMIS web v2 is a record interrogation tool which conducts instant, automated searches of the whole electronic patient record – enabling clinicians to pull together key information about a patient’s care, from risk assessments to QOF indicators, in seconds.

The tool can also be used to provide bespoke templates for any care process – for example, for the management of a chronic condition such as COPD – and EMIS is already developing templates for early adopters ahead of the release of the software later this month.

Sean Riddell, EMIS managing director, said: “EMIS Web v2 is the biggest piece of software, requiring the most detailed testing, that we have ever undertaken in the history of EMIS.

“We are delighted to unveil the system at EHI Live and I would encourage everyone at the conference to come and see the system for themselves – I am confident they will be inspired by the almost limitless possibilities it offers.”

• EMIS Web v2 will be available for demonstrations and hands-on trials on the EMIS stand in the EMIS & Partners Interoperability Zone.

• Mark Caulfield, Information Services Manager for NHS Tower Hamlets, and local GP Kambiz Boomla will be presenting their work with EMIS Web in the Best Practice Showcase theatre on Tuesday 10 November at 11.30am.
