Query Utility Tool for Enterprises
Qute (Query Utility Tool for Enterprises) is a new tool designed to aid practice based commissioning. It is a web-based system that integrates demographic and clinical data from EMIS with secondary care data.
Qute will provide:
- A reconciliation of data between primary and secondary care
- A clinical overview for GPs
- Searches and reports across primary and secondary care data for practices
- Enterprise reporting for PCTs and commissioners.
The primary and secondary care data is displayed on a split screen, so users can view and compare both sets of data at the same time. GPs can carry out searches and reports to help them reconcile issues or identify particular types of patients. It is also possible to filter the screen to view every event relating to a particular problem.
Qute is available as an add-on to EMIS Web GP.
Benefits for practices
- Practices save time and money spent verifying bills.
- GPs and practice staff can keep track of secondary care activity initiated by primary care referrals.
- Practices can reconcile what they have been charged by the trust with their own referral record.
- Qute displays secondary care outpatient events, inpatient episodes, inpatient spells and A&E events.
- The split screen view makes it easy to view both primary and secondary care data.
- GPs can identify the different pathways by which patients with the same condition are treated at different hospitals or by different consultants and the varying associated costs.
- Users can filter the secondary care record so that only particular types of events are listed, for example a GP could choose to view only cardiac events.
- Qute is a web based system, so it does not require any additional software or installation.
- Searches and reports can be carried out to identify particular types of patients, for example, high cost patients and frequent visitors to A&E.
Benefits for commissioning team/ PCT
Enterprise wide search and reports can be conducted with Qute, for example:
- The number of patients that attended a particular provider for a particular treatment
- The number of patients that attended accident and emergency
- Identifying the high cost patients
- The number of patients that DNA their hospital appointments and compare against practice DNAs
- The full length of spell and cost from GP referral to hospital discharge.
About Qute
Qute is the result of a collaboration between EMIS, Anglia Support Partnership and Cambridgeshire PCT.
Anglia Support Partnership (ASP) is a shared support services organisation that has been in existence since April 2000. It is one of the largest NHS organisations of its kind in the country. ASP supports the PCTs and Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. They have developed Quebec (see below), enabling the PCT to produce aggregate reports on secondary care activity.
How it works
Primary care data is uploaded from EMIS LV and PCS clinical systems using data streaming into EMIS Web, and is placed into the Qute system in real time. Practices can view the Qute data using EMIS Web.
Quebec streams the data from SUS – Secondary Uses Services (previously known as ClearNET data).
