Qute

Primary and secondary care records side by side, enabling GPs to view a continuum of care, admin staff to easily reconcile cost information and PCTs and commissioners to carry out detailed searches and reports.

Qute (Query Utility Tool for Enterprises) software brings together a patient’s primary care record and hospital record, in one easy to use screen.

As a component part of EMIS Web, Qute has the advantages of the same interoperable capabilities enabling the GP patient record to sit on the left hand side of the screen, whilst the patient’s hospital record sits on the right, fed in through SUS data.

The hospital data that can be viewed in Qute is detailed, including information such as diagnoses, procedures and timelines, as well as costings.

This has a number of distinct benefits:

  • GPs can review the patient’s hospital notes, to find out all the details of the patient’s inpatient episodes, spells, A&E incidents or outpatient appointments.
  • If the patient DNA’d on one of their outpatient appointments, the information appears in Qute.
  • Practice managers and admin teams can use Qute to find out the costing information of the patient’s secondary care. It’s simple to do, and means no more poring over spreadsheets with a highlighter, making financial reconciliation much faster and easier.
  • PBC groups and commissioners can run searches and reports on data across both primary and secondary care, getting a clear picture of, for example the number of patients that attended accident and emergency, or the full length of spell and cost from GP referral to hospital discharge.

It just makes sense – it joins up all the relevant IT data that it was previously hard to bring together.
