Pharmacies can now enjoy quicker and easier repeat prescription ordering, following the launch of the new MedsRequest service from Pharmacy2U software services and EMIS.
The new service expands the benefits of EMIS’s popular Medicines Manager service for GPs, which allows patients to order repeat prescriptions by telephone or internet.
Using MedsRequest, pharmacies can also access an up to date list of medication for participating patients – saving time by removing the need to check medication by fax, telephone or surgery visit.
Pharmacy2U estimates that the service will save pharmacies around one minute per repeat prescription request.
Sean Riddell, EMIS Managing Director, said: “This is a valuable new service which builds on the success of the very popular Medicines Manager service enjoyed by EMIS GPs – extending the benefits into the wider pharmacy sector.”
Mark Pedder, Business Development Manager for MedsRequest, said: “Requesting from an up to date medicine list, being able to see which requests have been accepted or rejected by the surgery and having an accurate collection manifest are all significant improvements over current paper-based management processes.”
MedsRequest is the only system for pharmacists where there is no requirement for either free text entry or reference to a drug database to create and maintain the repeat medication list.
